I'm sure you have seen the files called something like "F*** with RadioShack". I'm sure you also noticed that they always contain a line like "Now go over to the COCO/Tandy 1000/Tandy 5000 and type in..." Of course, these lines refer to computers that were obsolete a long time ago, and don't exist now. This file is an update of those old timeworn favorites.
THE KEY-the store number
The first thing you need is the store number. This is easy to get, since it is printed on the recipt with every purchase. It is usually of the form 01-XXXX, where the Xs are numbers. Look in the centered block of text at the top of the recipt.
THE DOORS-display computers
There should be a couple of Compaq computers sitting on display desks in the middle of the store. They will have either a password protected screen saver or demo software running. The demo software has an exit option, which is protected with a password. In both cases, the password is usually the entire store number, typed without the hyphen. If it isn't, then I don't know how to help you.
Once you get into the computer, you should look for the program called "Tag Wizard" It is protected by the smae password that the computer is protected by. (there is a valuable lesson here...) Once you have it running, you can make new tags and mark things down. They will have to sell it at your price.
THE DOORS 2-fishtanks
"Fishtanks" are the glass boxes with valuable but small merchendise in them. Usually, car radios, external computer drives, digital camers, small portable TVs, and portable MP3 players are all kept in fishtanks. The fishtanks are kept locked with resettable padlocks, usually with three-digit combinations. The combination is usually the first or last three digits of the store number, in order. If that doesn't work, try the middle three digits.
THE DOORS 3-POS computers
The passwords for the Point Of Sale terminals are set by default to something like 001, 002, 003, up to however many employees there are in the store. They can be changed, but only to other groups of numbers. 001 is usually the manager. If none of the 00X combinations work, there should be a list of each person's number flaoting aroung the sales counter. Once you are in, you can give discounts, ring returns and take the cash...
However, if you try to do this, you will be caught, and you will be banned from that store and have the cops called on you. That's the price you pay....
